John Adams

Research Specialist III working in the Division of Nearshore Research at the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science(CBI) at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi.

Work related interests include real-time monitoring of water quality, currents, and waves, especially in the lagoons, bays, and nearshore reaches of the Texas coastal environment. Meterological monitoring, estuarine habitats, and estuarine restoration are also a favorite.

Projects I am working on will expand my current work into the Mexican Gulf coast of Mexico. I am also working on a proposal to collect salinity and water temperature data from all the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network stations. Another goal is to expand on the wave data collection system that is presently at Bob Hall Pier. I am seeking funding to install wave gauges along the entire Texas coast, both for scientific and recreational uses.

I have been working full time at CBI since 1991, while still in graduate school (MS Biology '93), and have full intentions of remaining at CBI upon obtaining my CMSS degree, if i am persistant enough to complete the program (ie., get through the calculus!). I want to develop a comprehensive model of the circulation and water quality of Corpus Christi Bay, backed up by lots of real time data, for my dissertation project.

Non work interests include cooking BBQ, FTA, and kayaking the local back bays. My wife and i have 3 miniature daschunds, a pembrooke welsh corgi, and 6 grandkids.

contact me for more information about my projects and interests and more info.
