I received my BS in Biology from Central College (located in Pella, IA) in 1998. I spent a little over two years in the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa, working with eco-tourism, AIDS awareness, and improved farming techniques. I then spent several years working for Alaska Department of Fish and Game and National Marine Fisheries Service in Alaska and another year working in Hawaii for NOAA. I realized that I wanted to have more control over the research that I was working on and decided to continue my education here at Texas A & M University - Corpus Christi.
I am currently working on several projects with Eastern Oysters in Texas and Georgia.
Texas Academy of Science 2008: TOP-DOWN EFFECTS ON THE RECRUITMENT OF EASTERN OYSTERS IN ST. CHARLES BAY. Oral Presentation and abstract publication. March 2008.
Benthic Ecology 2008: GENETIC VARIATION IN EASTERN OYSTER (Crassostrea virginica) IN TEXAS BAYS AND HOW GENETIC DIVERSITY AFFECTS RECRUITMENT. Poster presentation and abstract publication. April 2008.
SACNAS 2008: GENETIC VARIATION AFFECTS RECRUITMENT AND MORTALITY OF EASTERN OYSTERS (Crassostrea virginica): Oral Presentation and abstract publication. October 2008.
